Choosing the Right Laser Nozzle: Single vs Double Layer

Nozzles control the pressure and volume of assist gas entering the cut zone. Selecting the wrong nozzle leads to excessive dross, slow cutting, or high gas bills.

Single Layer Nozzles

Single layer nozzles do not have an inner baffle. They are used for **Nitrogen and Compressed Air cutting**. They allow a high volume of high-pressure gas to blow away melted stainless steel or aluminum.

Double Layer Nozzles

Double layer nozzles contain an inner copper baffle. They are designed for **Oxygen cutting of Carbon Steel**. The double layer structure stabilizes the oxygen flow, preventing high-speed turbulent oxygen from causing wild combustion along the cutting path.
